EDI Contingency Measures

To ensure that Customers continue to receive their data in the event of any foreseeable disaster, EDI has implemented the following contingency measures.

In the most extreme of events whereby EDI's primary office was either inaccessible or did not exist, EDI has implemented a number of contingency measures as to ensure that EDI continually delivers to its clients an uninterrupted service on a daily basis.

EDI has a contingency site that is:-

  • Over thirty five miles from London.

  • This site has servers identical to those in the Office Database Server, File Server, WebServer, Email Server

  • Updated twice daily with data and programs. Success of these updates proves the functionality of the server

  • Workstations are checked for functionality weekly.

  • There are work stations for Data manipulation, programming and day-to-day business maintenance

  • UPS, Firewall, Internet connection, Network, telephones, desks, documentation, tools, spares are in place

  • Latest Virus scanning software

  • Staff can get there in two hours and begin working straight away as the machines are ready and waiting with the latest data.

  • Mail servers are synchronized daily

  • Mail servers are easily switchable between Main office and Contingency site

  • Information backed-up on tape and removed off-site on a daily basis
